  • A wonderful blend of learning, walking and eating.

Carla was an amazing tour guide. We learned about Cusco, the culture and the foods that the local Cuscans eat. The food was all delicious and we particularly liked the walks between stops seeing different parts of Cusco. Highly recommend

  • Amazing tour with adorable guide!

We had the pleasure of doing this culinary tour in Cusco with Carla, and it was an unforgettable experience! Carla is an incredibly warm and passionate guide who genuinely loves sharing the culture and traditions of her country. Throughout the tour, we tasted a wide variety of local specialties, and every single one was absolutely delicious, not a single disappointment! The places selected were carefully chosen, and everywhere we went we received such a warm welcome. Over the course of these 4 hours, we truly indulged ourselves and learned so much along the way. It’s impossible to leave this tour hungry! A huge thank you again to Carla, we highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cusco. Bonus: you also get to enjoy a little sightseeing around the city during the tour!

  • Fabulous food and city tour

You start from the market and go up to San Blas, with a lot of ground covered in between to taste authentic and eat food and visit the city. Our guide Ana was super nice and a bottomless pit of knowledge. Just book and enjoy the flavors and sightseeing!

  • One of the best food tours I’ve taken!

What an amazing tour! The tour guide Carla met me on time and was super friendly. She gave a lot of information about local history and Peruvian culture through out the tour. She also checked in a lot to make sure the pace of walking and distance felt good since the elevation can be difficult if you’re not used to it! We tried a lot of different foods and I felt that the tour around parts of Cusco will really act as a springboard for my own adventures now that I feel more familiar and comfortable with it. Every place we went was warm and welcoming. I am so glad I did this tour and would recommend it to everyone interested in trying new foods and learning more about Peruvian culture! It was wonderful!

Questions?

  • 01 What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
    color/negro
If you suffer any allergy o dietary restrictions, make sure to inform us in the checkout notes or via email once you completed your booking so we can take all the necessary precautions. This tour can cater for people with many types of allergies, including lactose and soy.

Pescatarians and vegetarians can also be accommodated. However, vegan options are limited due to the nature of this tour – we can offer some alternatives in some of the places we visit, we do not believe we can provide a good culinary experience to guests following these diets.

While our goal is to be as inclusive as possible, we are unfortunately unable to offer halal and kosher alternatives at the moment due to the difficulty for some Peruvian restaurants to acquire items with these characteristics.
  • 02 Do we eat a lot during this food tour? Does it constitute a meal?
    color/negro
Definitely! We recommend not eating anything else other than a light breakfast/lunch before this food tour. The food included in this tour is proportional to a multi-courses meal.
  • 03 Can you pick me up and drop me off from/at any location?
    color/negro
Pick up and drop off is not included in the group tour price. If you book a private Cusco food tour, we will be able to pick you up and drop you off anywhere in the city (airport not included – ask for a custom quote).
  • 04 Do I have to book this food tour in advance?
    color/negro
We recommend to book at least 1 week in advance to make sure it's not sold out, but we accept bookings up to 24 hours before the tour starts.
  • 05 Is this food tour physically demanding?
    color/negro
Between most stops there's a 5 to 10 minutes walk. A light 25-minutes walk takes place mid-tour for sightseeing purposes.
  • 06 I’m a solo traveller. Can I book a food tour too?
    color/negro
We encourage it! This food tour will allow you to meet other travelers who are passionate about gastronomy. Do not be afraid to book, even if you are solo. We could have other reservations for that same day so you can share the experience with other foodies.
  • 07 Is this food tour family friendly? If I'm bringing an infant/very young child, do I need to purchase a ticket for them?
    color/negro
Infants/children under 6, are only required to purchase a ticket and pay the "Under 18" rate if you'd like them to have access to their own food servings. If you prefer to share your food with your little ones and/or if you want them to eat the food you prepared for them before the tour, there is no need to purchase a ticket for them – they can participate for free.

Non-paying children will need to sit on the laps of their parents as space in some of the places we visit is strictly limited to paying customers. There can't be more non-paying children than adults.

Any child from 6 years old onwards will need to pay the "Under 18" rate.

Please let us know in the booking comments if non-paying children are going to be present so our guide knows and will be prepared for it.
  • 08 Can I book this food tour as a private tour?
    color/negro
Absolutely! You can book a private food tour for your party as is (via the "Book Now" button), or you can customize this tour so it caters to your needs and expectations (reach out to us via email or contact form). We are used to design tailor-made experiences for small and big groups – back in 2019 we went up to 150 people at once!
  • 09 What if I don’t drink alcohol?
    color/negro
If you do not drink alcohol, don’t worry! We will provide non-alcoholic drinks instead. Please make sure you add that information in the "Additional comments" section when finalizing your booking. No alcoholic beverages will be served to our guests under 18 years of age.
  • 10 What if I need to cancel this Cusco food tour?
    color/negro
Up to 24h before the tour start time, you can cancel your booking for free. We will only withhold card processing fees, which vary between 3% and 7% depending on the card used (due to financial entity, currency and country rules).
  • 11 Is this tour wheelchair accessible?
    color/negro
Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair accessible. Sadly, most of the streets haven't been properly adapted to be welcoming for wheelchair users. That being said, we'd be very honored to work on a tailor-made gastronomic adventure that works.
  • 12 Do you offer any other tours?
    color/negro
Yes, we have several food tours in the bank. Each of them offer a different perspective on Peruvian gastronomy. We like to think we have an option for all budgets and interests! Although we specialize in food tourism, if you'd like to visit a museum, another area of Peru not covered by one of our tours, please do let us know – we will for sure be able to arrange something with the help of our trusted partners.
  • 13 Is Cusco safe?
    color/negro
Just like in any big city, you have to be careful with your belongings in crowded areas. Of course, Peru being a country with big inequalities showing off the latest smartphone or an expensive watch in the street could unfortunately make you a target for thieves. But if you keep a low profile, you should be more than fine! Don't take random taxis from the street!
  • 14 How likely am I to get sick?
    color/negro
With our tour, extremely unlikely. All the stops are carefully vetted by our team and we run regular checks to make sure they maintain the same standards, both in terms of quality of the food as well as hygiene. Food poisoning is of course something that shouldn't be ignored in Peru, so we always recommend to eat or drink at places that were recommended by at least one local person, combined with positive online reviews.
  • 15 What is the elevation in Cusco, and will I get altitude sickness?
    color/negro
Cusco is at approximately 3,400 meters (11,150 feet) above sea level—one of the highest cities in the world. About 50–75% of visitors feel some effects, especially in the first 1–3 days. It's common and usually mild, but preparation makes a big difference. Hydrate, eat light and move slowly!
  • 16 Are pets allowed on the tour?
    color/negro
While we absolutely adore pets and understand they’re part of the family, our tours are unfortunately not pet-friendly. This policy is in place to ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of all guests, as well as to comply with venue and transportation restrictions. Not everyone is as open-minded as we'd all like, sadly!
