Our afternoon with David will be a highlight of our trip. He is a wealth of information and enthusiasm about everything Lima and Peru, especially anything food related. Thank you for sharing your love of Peruvian food. Your choice or location for our cooking and dining experience was perfect. Chef Hugo was a pleasure to learn from and we ate an amazing Peruvian dinner and can now make authentic Pisco Sours!

  • Fun food day in Lima

This was a really good tour…historical info, everyday life, great food and drinks and the best tour guide, Valeria! We had a wonderful time with her trying fruits we never had seen before, laughing at ourselves trying to make Pisco Sours, and making very yummy causas and ceviche. We highly recommend going with Valeria!

  • Learn to cook like a Peruvian!

A fabulous gastronomy tour with Manuel. Starting at the market we tasted local fruits which were delicious! The cookery experience was exceptional. The chef showed us how to prepare Causa acevichada, pisco sour and ceviche and then we made our own. Learnt about the local food and had great fun! It tastes great too! I would totally recommend this tour and especially with Manuel

Questions?

  • 01 What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
    color/negro
If you suffer any allergy o dietary restrictions, make sure to inform us in the checkout notes or via email once you completed your booking so we can take all the necessary precautions. However, at this point we won't be able to adapt the items served in this experience for those on a vegetarian or vegan diet. Likewise, if you don't eat fish or suffer from a seafood allergy, we currently don't have a way to provide alternatives for the cooking class.

If any of these apply to you, we highly recommend our Lima Ultimate Peruvian Food Tour in Artsy Barranco, which is way more adaptable in that sense.

Finally, while our goal is to be as inclusive as possible, we are unfortunately unable to offer halal and kosher alternatives at the moment due to the difficulty for some Peruvian restaurants to acquire items with these characteristics.
  • 02 Do we eat a lot during this market tour & cooking class? Does it constitute a meal?
    color/negro
Definitely! We recommend not eating anything else other than a light breakfast/lunch before this food tour. The food included in this tour is proportional to a regular 3-course meal, with pisco sour and some fruits.
  • 03 Can you pick me up and drop me off from/at any location?
    color/negro
Pick up and drop off is not included in the group tour price. For private tours, pick up and drop off is included for most locations. For LIM Airport or Callao cruise terminal, please reach out before booking, as extra details need to be checked (transport surcharge may apply).
  • 04 Do I have to book in advance?
    color/negro
We recommend to book at least 1 week in advance to make sure it's not sold out, but we accept bookings up to 24 hours before the tour starts.
  • 05 What if I need to cancel this tour?
    color/negro
Up to 24h before the tour start time, you can cancel your booking for free. We will only withhold card processing fees, which vary between 3% and 7% depending on the card used (due to financial entity, currency and country rules).
  • 06 Is this food tour physically demanding?
    color/negro
Not at all! A light 40 minutes walk takes place at the beginning as we visit the market. After that, you will be able to sit at the restaurant while you prepare ceviche, causa rellena and pisco sour.
  • 07 I’m a solo traveller. Can I book a market tour & ceviche cooking class, too?
    color/negro
We encourage it! This market tour & ceviche cooking class will allow you to meet other travelers who are passionate about gastronomy. Do not be afraid to book, even if you are solo. We could have other reservations for that same day so you can share the experience with other foodies.
  • 08 Is this food tour family friendly? If I'm bringing an infant/very young child, do I need to purchase a ticket for them?
    color/negro
Infants/children under 6, are only required to purchase a ticket and pay the "Under 18" rate if you'd like them to have access to their own food servings. If you prefer to share your food with your little ones and/or if you want them to eat the food you prepared for them before the tour, there is no need to purchase a ticket for them – they can participate for free.

Non-paying children will need to sit on the laps of their parents as space in some of the places we visit is strictly limited to paying customers. There can't be more non-paying children than adults.

Any child from 6 years old onwards will need to pay the "Under 18" rate.

Please let us know in the booking comments if non-paying children are going to be present so our guide knows and will be prepared for it.
  • 09 Can I book this food tour as a private tour?
    color/negro
Absolutely! You can book a private food tour for your party (via the "Book Now" button), or you can customize this tour so it caters to your needs and expectations (reach out to us via email). We are used to design tailor-made experiences for small and big groups – back in 2019 we went up to 150 people at once!
  • 10 What if I don’t drink alcohol?
    color/negro
If you do not drink alcohol, don’t worry! We will provide non-alcoholic drinks instead. Please make sure you add that information in the "Additional comments" section when finalizing your booking. No alcoholic beverages will be served to our guests under 18 years of age.
  • 11 Is this tour wheelchair accessible?
    color/negro
Unfortunately, this food tour is only partially wheelchair accessible. The good news is that we would still be able to offer you a tailor-made private food tour with an itinerary that would match the standard tour. Reach out to us via email to make this possible.
  • 12 Do you offer any other food tour?
    color/negro
Yes, we have several food tours in the bank. Each of them offer a different perspective on Peruvian gastronomy. We like to think we have an option for all budgets and interests! Although we specialize in food tourism, if you'd like to visit a museum, or another area of Lima not covered by one of our tours, please do let us know – we will for sure be able to arrange something with the help of our trusted partners.
  • 13 Is Lima safe?
    color/negro
Just like in any big city, you have to be careful with your belongings in crowded areas. Of course, Peru being a country with big inequalities showing off the latest smartphone or an expensive watch in the street could unfortunately make you a target for thieves. But if you keep a low profile, you should be more than fine!
  • 14 How likely am I to get sick?
    color/negro
With our tour, extremely unlikely. All the stops are carefully vetted by our team and we run regular checks to make sure they maintain the same standards, both in terms of quality of the food as well as hygiene. Food poisoning is of course something that shouldn't be ignored in Peru, so we always recommend to eat or drink at places that were recommended by at least one local person, combined with positive online reviews.
  • 15 Are pets allowed on the tour?
    color/negro
While we absolutely adore pets and understand they’re part of the family, our tours are unfortunately not pet-friendly. This policy is in place to ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of all guests, as well as to comply with venue and transportation restrictions. Not everyone is as open-minded as we'd all like, sadly!
