Embark on a full-day Lima food tour and city tour to discover Peru's capital most emblematic sights and flavors. Unveil the charm of Barranco, Miraflores, and the Historic Center as your expert guide leads you through these delightful neighborhoods. Immerse yourself in the local scene as you visit a diverse array of establishments, enabling you to savor Lima's iconic culinary delights and beverages firsthand.
The day will start in the colored and colonial streets of Barranco. In this neighborhood, you will encounter a diverse array of delectable bites and beverages, all of which rank among Peru's most iconic culinary treasures, frequently featured on must-try lists. The perfect area to start a food tour!
Beyond the exploration of new flavors, a pivotal aspect of this full-day Lima food tour is the unearthing of narratives, cultural origins, and contemporary relevance interwoven with each delectable bite. While "delicious" reactions certainly delight us, our aspiration extends to eliciting resounding "wow" and "how fascinating" expressions as your guide tells you everything about organic coffee cultivation or the intricacies of ají de gallina.
Following an enriching 4-hour exploration of Barranco, we will continue towards Miraflores, granting your appetites a well-deserved respite. We will meander along the ocean's edge and make strategic stops at various landmarks, including the Parque del Amor, Parque Kennedy, and an exterior view of Huaca Pucllana. This engaging route will pave the way for our final destination – the Historic Center – where our combined feast for the eyes and palate will resume.
Close to the Government Palace and other renowned sites like Plaza de Armas and Lima's Cathedral, our comprehensive day-long Lima food tour & city tour ventures into less-explored culinary havens. This includes a visit to Lima's largest market and a detour to Chinatown. Prepare to sample Peru' street food gems such as anticuchos, pan con chicharrón, picarones, and more. All of this unfolds against the backdrop of an architecturally vibrant section of Lima.

Questions?

  • 01 What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
    color/negro
If you suffer any allergy o dietary restrictions, make sure to inform us in the checkout notes or via email once you completed your booking so we can take all the necessary precautions. This tour can cater for people with any allergy, including but not limited to gluten, lactose and soy. This food tour, can be adapted for people on a vegetarian or vegan diet. While our goal is to be as inclusive as possible, we are unfortunately unable to offer halal and kosher alternatives at the moment due to the difficulty for some Peruvian restaurants to acquire and stock items with such characteristics.
  • 02 Do we eat a lot during this tour? Does it constitute a meal?
    color/negro
Definitely! We recommend not eating anything else other than a light breakfast/lunch before the tour. In Barranco, we will have breakfast and lunch, and later on in the Historic Center, the food served shall replace dinner for most people.
  • 03 Can you pick me up and drop me off from/at any location?
    color/negro
Pick up and drop off is included in the price from/to any location in the Lima Metropolitan area. That being said, for LIM Airport or Callao cruise terminal pick ups/drop offs, please reach out before booking, as some details need to be checked prior to confirming your booking.
  • 04 Do I have to book in advance?
    color/negro
We recommend to book at least 2 weeks in advance to make sure it's not sold out, but we accept bookings up to 24 hours before the tour starts.
  • 05 Is this food tour physically demanding?
    color/negro
Between each food stops we walk between 3 to 15 minutes. A light 30-minutes walk takes place mid-tour in Barranco for sightseeing purposes though. This longer walk traditionally include some stairs, but if your mobility is limited or if you are tired, just let our guide know – we will actually have a shorter alternative for you! That being said, this is a full-day and we do not recommend the tour to those who are not used to walk.
  • 06 I’m a solo traveller. Can I book a food tour too?
    color/negro
Unfortunately, this is a private tour and we need at least 2 people to operate this tour at the price advertised. If you are a solo traveler, please reach out and we will offer you a custom quote. It won't be cheap though!
  • 07 Is this food tour family friendly? If I'm bringing an infant/very young child, do I need to purchase a ticket for them?
    color/negro
It is! We would definitely recommend that you use a stroller for the walking portions to avoid children getting tired too fast. If you are traveling with infants or children under 6, you would only be required to purchase a ticket and pay the "Under 18" rate if you'd like them to have access to their own food servings. However, please let us know in the booking comments if non-paying children are going to be present so our guide knows and will be prepared for it. A minimum of 2 paying guests is required.
  • 08 Can I book this full-day Lima tour as a private tour?
    color/negro
This tour only operates in private!
  • 09 What if I don’t drink alcohol?
    color/negro
If you do not drink alcohol, don’t worry! We will provide non-alcoholic drinks instead. Please make sure you add that information in the "Additional comments" section when finalizing your booking. No alcoholic beverages will be served to our guests under 18 years of age.
  • 10 What if I need to cancel this tour?
    color/negro
Up to 24h before the tour start time, you can cancel your booking for free. We will only withhold card processing fees, which vary between 3% and 7% depending on the card used (due to financial entity, currency and country rules).
  • 11 Is this tour wheelchair accessible?
    color/negro
Unfortunately, this tour is only partially wheelchair accessible. Sadly, one stop in particular is only accessible through a staircase, and a small portion of the itinerary has shamefully narrow sidewalks. The good news is that we would still be able to offer you a tailor-made private tour with an itinerary that would match about 90% of the standard tour. Reach out to us via email to make this possible.
  • 12 Do you offer any other tour?
    color/negro
Yes, we have several food tours in the bank. Each of them offer a different perspective on Peruvian gastronomy. We like to think we have an option for all budgets and interests! Although we specialize in food tourism, if you'd like to visit a museum, or another area of Lima not covered by one of our tours, please do let us know – we will for sure be able to arrange something with the help of our trusted partners.
  • 13 Is Lima safe?
    color/negro
Just like in any big city, you have to be careful with your belongings in crowded areas. Of course, Peru being a country with big inequalities showing off the latest smartphone or an expensive watch in the street could unfortunately make you a target for thieves. But if you keep a low profile, you should be more than fine!
  • 14 How likely am I to get sick?
    color/negro
With our tour, extremely unlikely. All the stops are carefully vetted by our team and we run regular checks to make sure they maintain the same standards, both in terms of quality of the food as well as hygiene. Food poisoning is of course something that shouldn't be ignored in Peru, so we always recommend to eat or drink at places that were recommended by at least one local person, combined with positive online reviews.
